![]() Humans eventually return, but due to the pollution, the theory suggests, they evolve… Cars, in fact, retain the personalities of their previous owners and rule for a brief time. ![]() Humans are forced to leave Earth, with robots taking over. The world is however being slowly destroyed through pollution. Toy Story shows us how toys rely on humans to survive, with Toy Story 4 introducing Forky, who gains sentience after he is created. And these inanimate objects develop sentience – all because of human emotion. With rats having a passion for cooking, octopi driving vans and dogs having their thoughts translated through gadgets, the animal kingdom takes a step back to humanity however.Īs this happens, machines develop more and more advanced technology. This explains why, in The Pixar universe, many animals are immensely intelligent. Dinosaurs become intelligent – using farming, developing language and even co-existing with primitive humans. It starts with the more recent instalment ‘The Good Dinosaur’, in which the meteorite destined to hit Earth completely misses it. The theory pitches humans, animals and machines all against each other. It has been in circulation for quite some while, but it repeatedly gets updated as more films come out. Published in a 2015 book of the same name, The Pixar Theory attempts to connect all Pixar films into one big universe which features time travel, talking animals and evil robots. We also have to note that the grand Pixar Theory doesn't include Cars 3, but even counting Cars 3 in, the theory still holds (some) water.Īll in all, it's an interesting theory that further connects the already connected world of Pixar movies.Ĭars, Cars 2, and Wall-E will be available to watch on Disney+ from March 24 in the UKĭigital Spy now has a newsletter – sign up to get it sent straight to your inbox. ![]() According to it, Cars takes place between 2100-2200 and the description of the Cars franchise ends with the line: "How do we know cars took over Earth and not another planet?"Įven acquiescing that at the end of Cars 2 "Earth" (or whatever planet they're on that maybe looks like Earth) is inhabitable for humans, that doesn't explain why the final shots of Wall-E don't feature any talking cars or planes. The theory is only bolstered by the official Pixar shared-universe site. Presuming Cars takes place in a future where technology is so advanced, we can assume there's plenty of possibilities to build the kind of world in which Cars exists. In fact, it might make more sense to take this one step further and posit that people can actually upload their consciousnesses to the cars' computers (a la Matrix, or Replicas if ya nasty). Because humans can't survive the gravitational force of the giant planet, they instead place themselves inside the cars and planes to protect their bodies. The theory also claims that the Cars are not only sentient but actually house the humans themselves. The original inhabitants who created it designed specific landmarks to be familiar. ![]() ![]() The theorist explains that even though the world Cars takes place in looks like Earth, it's actually a huge planet that has been heavily terraformed. ![]()
